Personal Statement/Philosophy:
Our children are the future. The education of our youth is the deciding factor in how the United States compares to other nations. For years we have been falling behind Asia and Europe in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), which are crucial to maintaining a leadership role in the global economy. In my classroom I strive to make a difference in the way students think about and use math. It is a place of exploration and curiosity, where there are no dumb questions. I expect my students to think critically, to go beyond surface level understanding and memorization, and to use the tools I give them to become problem-solvers. I became a teacher in order to pass on those tools so that they can succeed in the dynamic world of tomorrow.

You should also know that:
In recognition for my excellence in the teaching profession, I was awarded a UCR Noyce Scholarship by the National Science Foundation. This prestigious $10,000 scholarship gave me the financial support I needed to prepare for my career as a teacher. Additionally, I have attended many professional development workshops, including the Science and Technology Education Partnership Teacher Conference and the Mathematics Academy for Teaching Excellence.
In my personal life, I enjoy participating in bicycle marathons, hiking in Griffith Park, coin collecting, and debating.
